EV & Hybrid Repairs in Frankston

EV & hybrid repairs · Frankston · VACC member

Electric and hybrid vehicles need a different approach after an accident. Alfa Body Works’ team is qualified to work on modern electric and hybrid vehicles, so you can have your EV or hybrid repaired at our Frankston workshop with confidence. Every repair is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty.

Why EV and hybrid collision repairs are different

  • High-voltage systems. EVs and hybrids carry high-voltage batteries and cabling. Work near these components is handled by our team, which is qualified to work on modern electric and hybrid vehicles, following the correct safety procedures.
  • Battery protection. EV and hybrid batteries are often positioned beneath the vehicle or behind panels. Depending on where and how hard the impact was, damage may not be obvious from the outside, so careful inspection matters.
  • Manufacturer repair methods. Modern vehicles can combine steel, aluminium and other lightweight materials. Repairs need to suit the vehicle’s construction and the manufacturer’s repair procedures for your make and model.
  • Paint and refinishing. Refinishing and curing are chosen to suit the vehicle’s materials and any manufacturer requirements, including precautions around high-voltage components.
  • Sensors and cameras. Where damage may affect driver-assistance sensors in bumpers, mirrors or windscreens, we’ll check whether inspection or calibration is needed and explain the next steps.

Had an accident in your EV or hybrid?

  1. Make sure everyone is safe. If there is smoke, fire, unusual heat, hissing, popping or a burning smell, move away from the vehicle and call 000.
  2. Don’t touch exposed high-voltage components or damaged orange cables.
  3. Don’t drive it if battery or electrical warnings appear or the battery area may be damaged. Arrange professional recovery and tell us when you enquire.
  4. Exchange details and take photos of both vehicles and the scene.
  5. Send us your photos. If another driver was responsible, talk to us about your not-at-fault repair options before authorising repairs. Check your own policy’s requirements for notifying your insurer.

Questions from EV and hybrid owners

Can you repair my hybrid or electric car after an accident?

Yes. Our team is qualified to work on modern electric and hybrid vehicles. Send photos and your make and model, and we’ll explain the repair and next steps.

Will a body repair affect my EV’s battery warranty?

It depends on the damage, the repairs needed and your manufacturer’s warranty conditions. We follow the applicable manufacturer repair procedures, but we can’t guarantee how a manufacturer will treat an individual warranty claim. If you have concerns, check your warranty terms or contact the manufacturer, and we’re happy to talk it through.

Can I choose you for my insurance claim?

Many policies let you choose your repairer. Check your policy or ask your insurer, then send us your claim number and photos.

Do I need an EV dealer for minor scratches and dents?

Not necessarily. Many cosmetic collision repairs, such as bumper scuffs, scratches and dents, can be completed by a qualified independent repairer. Some damage may need specialist inspection or manufacturer-specific procedures, and we’ll explain what is appropriate for your vehicle.
